Adding new skills, keeps us motivated and cheerful, it often gives us a sense of accomplishment, and keeps us happy. A stay at home mom finds it hard to keep up with the daily routine and hardly has any time left to learn or add new skills. Managing the house, getting things done, and making sure things are put back in the right order or right place, is what every stay at home mom wants. Good planning is essential even at home, as things do not get done very easily; they have to be planned well in advance. Everyone is eager to learn more but finding some time-to add a new skill or making some time available to learn something new requires effort.

Some tips to help us find more time and learn new skills.

Planning ahead: Setting some time during the week end planning things ahead, like making a menu for the week and getting the groceries on the weekend, making a list of all the household cleaning and scheduling some time during the week saves us time, we are well prepared for the week and do not waste any time thinking about the next meal.

Organizing: Spending some time every week to organize, helps us find things in order and in the right place, this may be boring but always leaves us more time to do and learn more.

Maintaining a diary: This always works, writing things down-in the diary, going through it once every morning, keeps me updated and it helps me finish the work as scheduled. Updating it every night for a couple of minutes, deleting or crossing of things, once completed gives me more time needed to learn something new. This keep me organized and I know what to do next without wasting any time.

Stick to the list: Most times a list comes in very handy, I always have separate lists that help me achieve good results. A to-do-list for the day keeps me updated about the things to be done during that particular day for example baking cookies for my daughter and her friends or making sure to come up with an exciting meal if there is something special. Having a list often helps me do the toughest things first which in my case helps me finish things on time. Sticking to the grocery list helps me buy things at the grocery stores as planned it helps me keep a record of what has to be bought this way I save time and money this I can avoid buying things which are not needed.

Trying to do things as scheduled: Waking up as on time-as planned doing things as scheduled, making sure things get done on time-gives us more time needed to exercise, read or learn new skills.

Keep some time aside: Prioritizing things, setting some time aside for replying emails, while web-browsing or sending some birthday greeting to friends and family helps us stay in touch. Checking emails once in a day on the scheduled time setting a regular time helps us save time. Scheduling an hour or two everyday to finish up some errands, for example, dropping clothes at the laundry, while driving the kids back from school, helps us save time.

Understanding the need to learn and add new skills-helps us come up with new ways and ideas to manage time better.
