Most times children enjoy their summer break and wait for it to begin, but after a week or two they start feeling bored. They often run out of ideas to play or do and want to learn something new or do something fun. Most times taking them to summer camps or summer activities is a good way to keep them busy but sometimes children just feel like staying home.
Here are a few ways to help them enjoy the summer break:
Blow bubbles: Most children need something fun to do, they enjoy sitting in the kitchen garden or sitting outdoors and blow bubbles. Parents can enjoy sometime with the children blowing bubbles.
Feed the birds: We see a lot of birds in summer, making a simple bird feeder with their help or taking the children for a walk and feeding the ducks or the pigeons is another good way to enjoy summer break.
Ride the bike: Children enjoy riding the bike, they enjoy if we accompany them while they ride their bike. Taking sometime off and riding a bike with the kids is often fun.
Teach something new: Children love something new, some like learning some simple art or craft ideas some like to read. There are so many things we can teach them or so many things they enjoy learning. Spending sometime with them learning and understanding their interests or what they enjoy doing. Coming up with a few easy art or crafts projects at home is a good way to introduce something new.
Help them read: Children love to read, and reading is a good way to improve their vocabulary and writing skills. Reading a few good stories to them whenever possible is a good way to help them enjoy reading.
Draw your favorite fruit: Children enjoy talking about different food items, asking them to draw and color their favorite fruit or favorite food item. Keeping a few fruits or some vegetables on the table and asking them to draw these fruits and color-keeps them busy and happy. Enjoying the fruit together after they have finished drawing the fruit and coloring it sounds fun too.
Popcorn and a movie: Children enjoy watching a good animated movie, keeping sometime aside just to watch their favorite animated movies, and enjoying a blow of popcorn together sounds interesting.
Draw something you enjoy doing: Kids love to draw, but sometimes run out of ideas, giving the few simple ideas, like asking them to draw something’s which they enjoy doing, or giving them some simple topics like, a visit to the zoo, or a visit to the supermarket helps them come up with a lot of different ideas and keeps them busy for a long time.
Hobby time: Summer is a goodtime to introduce them to a hobby. Some like collecting stamps, some enjoy writing poems, or some just love to paint. Just being around helping them come up with a few rhyming words and helping them write a few poems. Or helping them arrange their stamps accordingly and helping them add these stamps in the stamp collection book helps them keep things organized.
