We all work very hard to
keep the house clean. As we all know household chores do take up a lot of time,
have to be attended to on time and cannot be neglected. Getting things
done on time helps us maintain the house and keeps it clean. Almost everyone
would like to get more work done around the house. I'm always on a look
out for tips to increase productivity while working around the house do try and
make a note.
Do the toughest things
first: Doing the toughest things first thing in
the morning helps as we wake up fresh and well rested.
Having a plan and sticking
to it helps: Schedule a realistic
weekly plan and leave sometime aside for distractions. Having a list and
attending to things on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis helps us attend to
these chores on time. This way we can keep a track of which area has to be
attended or needs cleaning.
Leave some time for a few
changes: While scheduling try
to leave some time for a few changes that may come in the way. If we have a
visitor or a friend visiting us suddenly and we are unable to attend to our
household chores as scheduled.
Prioritize things: There are a lot of areas that have to be taken care and most
of these areas cannot be ignored, scheduling and learning to prioritize things
helps. If we have to visit the grocery store and if the refrigerator is not
organized keeping some time aside and organizing saves a lot of time, this way
we have already made enough space needed to store the grocery in the
refrigerator once we are back.
Remembering to do a few
things together: While going grocery
shopping try picking up the clothes form the drycleaners or visiting the post
office on the way. Collaborating a few things saves us a lot of time.
Staying organized helps: Having the to do list ready for things to do the next
mornings save a lot of time and helps us stay organized. Try setting a start
time this helps us attend to things on time.
Reminders help us remember: Most times we get so busy that we forget to pay the bills on
time or post a greeting card to a friend on time. Having reminders on the
mobile phone or on the refrigerator is a good way to remember these important
things.
Distractions: Distractions often take up a lot of time but keeping some time
aside for returning phone calls or sending emails helps us achieve things on
time. Staying focused helps. This happens to me a lot while dusting the
furniture if I come across the newspaper and start reading it or while cleaning
the book rack pick up book and start reading it and before I know I would have
spent hours reading the book and this way end up avoiding attend to the
household chores as scheduled.
Delegate some work to
family members: Taking some help from our
family members helps us finish doing things on time and leaves us some time to
relax or read a good story to our children.
Try accomplishing little at
a time: While attending to larger areas try
finishing little at a time. Suppose if you decide to clean the whole kitchen
try cleaning the inside the cabinets on a day and then schedule the next day to
clean the cabinets from the outside. While attending to larger areas breaking
these tasks into a few little ones often helps.
Find easier ways: Find easier ways to help save time, I often start my washing
machine first thing in the morning while working in the kitchen this way the
laundry gets done while I finish with packing lunches and serving
breakfast. Using the right tools or things needed like a clean washed mop
instead of a old used one makes it easier and helps us save a lot of time.
